In the 1940’s, Otto’s sister, Rosa Lueschen, and her husband Henry moved
off their farm place and lived with Otto in the frame house his mother built at the
time of his marriage.  Rosa and Henry lived with Otto for many years and made a
wonderful home for him.  When the Lueschen family moved to Columbus, Nebraska,
Otto remained in this home for several more years.  In the last years of his life he
moved to Columbus and lived with his sister, Minna Grotelueschen Kant, until his
death on April 5, 1973, at the age of 91.

Otto had sold his farm to Harold and Dorothy Dirks Grotelueschen in 1945.  It
was important to Otto that the homestead farm continue in the Grotelueschen
name.  In 1975, Harold and Dorothy built a home on the site of the white frame
home occupied by Otto in his later years.

Otto took no active part in community or political activities, but was a loyal
member of Christ Lutheran Church.  His walk through life was accomplished
through a slow gait and with a bent frame in his later life, but his dealings with peo-
ple were done in a straight and loving manner at all times.  Otto lived his life quietly
and happily, always confident that his friends and his Lord would take care of his
needs.
