Lena had a strong Christian faith. Her Christian witness was a strong influ-
ence in leading her grandson, Walt, into the teaching ministry. Walt became a pas-
tor after Lenas death and wished she could have heard one of his sermons. He
knew Lena would have critiqued the sermon with him later if she were alive.
In Lenas later years, her brother Otto would take her to Columbus or to go
visiting. They had brothers and sisters who lived in Columbus and the surrounding
area. Lena was very close to her brothers and sisters and enjoyed visiting them.
Lena is remembered as a special wife, mother, and grandmother who al-
ways had time for her familys needs. She is remembered for being a teacher, gar-
dener, painter, poet, and friend. She is best remembered for her staunch Christian
faith which showed itself through the words that she spoke and the interest and
helpfulness she showed to her fellow men. All of her family and the many friends
who knew her cherish the memory of Helena Matilda Grotelueschen Loseke.
